How it works
From first chat to Norway.
From the first conversation to the trip and looking back afterwards. Five steps, with no surprises along the way.
The five steps
-
01
First conversation
We talk about what you’re looking for and whether YAD is a good fit. Who you want to travel with, when, and what you expect from the trip. If you have doubts about your fitness or health, this is the moment to raise them.
-
02
Shape and book the trip
We look at your experience, fitness, the time of year, how long you want to go for and how challenging you want the trip to be. You receive a trip proposal with the final length and price.
Your booking is confirmed once the 30% deposit has been received. The remaining 70% is due no later than three months before departure. Cancellation terms

03
Preparation day
Once you’ve paid your deposit, we spend a full day outdoors together in the Netherlands to get to know each other, and Jay uses it to set the level of the trip. Before the trip starts, you also fill in the health questionnaire and we go through the kit list: what you bring and what Jay provides.
-
04
To Norway
You travel to Kristiansand; Setesdal is about an hour and a half further. Jay is usually there already. We leave with a clear plan, plus alternatives in case the weather or conditions change. The route follows the weather.
Transfers to and from Kristiansand aren’t included in the price, but can be arranged; just mention it when we put your trip proposal together. Accommodation on the travel days isn’t included either. If you’re taking the ferry, Jay can recommend places to stay in Denmark.

05
Afterwards
Once you’re home, we catch up once more and look back on the trip.
Always included
The basics are taken care of.
- Your own private guide
